Housing

Finding safe, stable, and affordable housing can be challenging. This section provides information about rental housing, housing assistance, emergency housing, tenant supports, and local programs that can help individuals and families find or maintain suitable housing.

Finding Housing

Community Housing / Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI)

Community housing provides subsidized rental housing for eligible low- and moderate-income households. Rent-geared-to-income housing is based on household income. Applications are managed through the City of London’s Housing Access Centre. Demand is high and wait times can be several years, so this is not emergency housing.

Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB)

The Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit is a portable rent supplement that helps eligible low-income households with the cost of renting in the private market. The benefit is tied to the household rather than a specific rental unit and can be used anywhere in Ontario. In London, the program is referral-based and does not accept direct applications from the public.
